Lol my mother got this call a few days back. My brother and I both live outside of India. When my mom picked up the call, they straight up said we're calling from the Delhi Police station, both your sons have been arrested by Canada police in a rape case, and embassy has called us to settle your case. 

You need to be 1 crore rupees etc etc to get them bail, my mom freaked out and called me right away. It was 2 AM my time, and I was like....maa, I'm in my bed. If I were caught, you'd get a letter from the Canada govt which might get lost in the mail itself. Took her a while to calm down.

Point is, these scammers seem to know details of people they are accusing, which makes their accusations believable. On top of it, they have some people handy to make them cry on the phone, so it feels more legible.

My mom got the same call, "we have caught your child at the park with 4-5 other boys , now he has a rape case on him we have beaten him so badly he's bleading from his mouth" , my mother was almost certain that it was a scam but was veryyy stressed out but still managed to say "shut up" and hung up the  call and called me to ask if everything was alright

A call from a Pakistani number was received by my father as well. The person on the call claimed to be a top officer, telling my father that he is from cybercrime. He informed my father that a case has been filed against me for drinking. I am not a drinker and my father knows it. Why would a cybercrime officer help with a drinking case? Such silly reasons. To close the case, he was requesting a significant amount of money.The caller received an earful from my father because he is well-aware of the bullshit. I am fortunate that my father trusts me and is well-versed in the scams happening. If someone gets a call that is similar, steer clear.

dad got a call from a number from pakistan same thing happened with him scammer pretended to be a police and acted like my cousin got caught with some random people who have commited a crime (rape) to be exact he panicked... didnt understand what exactly happened and he knew that my cousin would never do such a thing but still there was some sort of fear and panick for him.....   the policemen said that he would release my bro if papa sent him 40k rupee papa said no and said let me talk to him and then the scammer started talking in my bros voice he was crying and called my fathers nickname with the word ''appa'' and appa means father but thats what south indians call their uncles ... fir uske baad the voice convinced papa to send the money afther that he made a call to bhaiya and bhaiya said that he was asleep it was around 12:12pm

I understand your concern. But trial is to know the truth whether he is guilty or not. Before finding anyone guilty how can you put them in bars for a long time. Its a cognizable offence , sorry in this its upto the court, if it thinks he will not pressurise the victim or hide the evidence, then only be will be allowed bail. Generally the district court do no give bails in murder or rape cases. They appeal and get from high court.

Let’s assume a scenario, we have a property dispute and to have an advantage over you, i go and file a case that you did something with my partner and you will be arrested,right?

But if you are not released and i just delay the trials to keep you in jail without the offence being proven (which eventually will not be) so it will be injustice with you. If u will prove the court that u wont do any bad thing and don’t leave the country, you should be allowed on bail. You are not a convict yet. 

If you are concerned about the safety of, a guy after finishing his sentence can kill the victom too but it doesn’t mean he will never be released. Its a failure of the state to provide security to the victim.

It's bailable cause the law works on the basis of innocent until proven guilty, and thankfully not presumption of guilt. Would Genuine victims be in danger? Sure, but just because of that you can't make a law so draconian as to not even give a bail. Look at all the fake cases, if we go by your logic, all of those guys would be rotting in the prison right now. So bail is a very normal thing, you can't keep somebody locked up just because somebody else accused them of something, and not even without any strong evidence. 

Also if you wanna argue that it should be non bailable, then I would support you, as long as, the act clearly also states that a false fir filed with malicious intents or that a fir that has no standing and no evidence of the crime, then in that case both the plaintiff and the lawyer would get imprisonment of 7-10 years, you start putting false accusers behind bars for extended period of time and i would support, but right now, perjury is as is used very very rarely in this country, forget locking up menace to societies like people who file false cases.

The state as machinery is way too powerful to act freely against an individual. It can (and is) maliciously used against individuals by actors for various reasons.
Locking someone up does not necessarily help prosecution in proving guilt, but bail does give the accused respite in case the accusations are false.

No one should be jailed for 3-6 years (optimistic timeline for a rape trial) only for them to be acquitted. If the prosecution cannot give the person these years back, they have no right to take them without any provable, unavoidable reasons.

To rape someone, you need to reduce them to an object. To reduce someone to an object, you need to be driven by an emotion. Meanwhile, murder often still includes the murderer seeing the victim as a person.

I went to a really shitty school when I was younger and I saw the first mindset very early in guys.

While not raping people, the boys of my school were infamous for picking fights with everyone. You could get attacked for stepping on a paper. Or looking at someone wrong.

Bullying was similar. The arguments were always the same. "If you hadn't angered me", or "it was *just* fun". When you beat them up in return, they will get either angrier or retreat. When you involve teachers you could stop them temporarily, but people would judge the fk out of you.

Best example: I had an argument with a guy in a subject. Teacher cut in, listened and told him I was right. Several hours pass and school ends, when I wait in front of the gate for friends, as I see the guy speeding towards me. He tackles me and we fight till we get ripped apart. Teacher asks what happened and he just says "she angered me", "it was her fault for angering me"

Months later I'd still hear from him &amp; his friends "just don't do stuff that angers him", "he can't help it".

Another guy would hunt down girls, pin them, grope them and steal their scrunchies as "trophies". "accidentally told his dad about it. Asshole tried to do the same to me afterwards. Was, luckily, way too fast for him though

Well we're talking about India here. A huge contributing factor is education. Most them are uneducated and in fact doesn't know what's right or wrong. In fact most these rapist happened to follow what they've seen through their upbringing (Like they might have seen incest in family), in rural areas back in those days victims of rape are forced to marry their rapist and that is considered as a punishment to the rapist and it even happens now in some far away villages. That's how their culture and ancestors taught them.

I've also seen news where the guy rapes the girl because he knows others will force them to marry and that the girl doesn't likes him. 

If u look at top 10 countries with highest rape cases, then top 4 is dominated by South African countries. Why's that?. again education. If you study these countries you'll know there's huge disparities between the educated and non, rich and poor which contributes to those who are single vs married and etc. In simple words, they have nothing to lose so they just do whatever they feel like doing.

I'm not saying that the educated ones don't but if we're talking in numbers, the uneducated ones are more inclined to darker paths. Hey, but the good thing is that things are changing.

Back in the 60's no women in India will ever report that she's been raped because the whole family will kill themselves out of shame (it's a thing there) but now women are braver and they will be even more braver in future.

Don't look at the statistical number and think that it's increasing. It's just that more victims are becoming open and reporting now compared to before where the occurrence were higher but disclosed due to victim/family being afraid of coming out.

These is in trending news today, our judiciary system needs to be revive.. there is no proper punishment for sex offenders.
